Over the last quarter, the KLAS Arch Collaborative has actively worked to collect 13 success stories from Arch Collaborative member organizations who are improving their EHR experience. We’ve published these successes in case studies that share what they did and what their data-backed best practices were.

October Case Studies

1. Henry County Hospital’s EHR Journey

Five years after implementing MEDITECH Expanse, the Net EHR Experience Score of Henry County Hospital’s physicians is in the Arch Collaborative’s 95th percentile. This case study delves into their implementation goals, keys to success, and outcomes, including high ratings for EHR support and shared governance.

2. Enhancing Nurse Satisfaction at Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne

Since going live with Epic in 2016, Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne has significantly improved nurse satisfaction and patient safety by using Rover and mobile nursing workflows. This case study explores their journey over the course of three Arch Collaborative measurements and the positive impacts on their Net EHR Experience Score.

3. Hamad Medical Corporation’s Comprehensive Initial Training Approach

Hamad Medical Corporation’s nurses report higher-than-average EHR satisfaction thanks to a robust onboarding education program. This case study outlines their strategies and the resulting organizational benefits.

November Case Studies

4. UTHealth Houston’s Training Optimization

Despite the challenges of implementing Epic during the COVID-19 pandemic, UTHealth Houston achieved a 97th percentile Net EHR Experience Score in the Arch Collaborative after three years. How? In the most simple terms, they leveraged user efficiency data and expert-led training.

5. MaineHealth Drives Meaningful EHR Changes for Nurses

MaineHealth empowered nurses to drive meaningful EHR changes, optimizing documentation and workflows to reduce unnecessary tasks. This case study examines their strategies around documentation and workflows and how they created supportive work environments and fostered teamwork.

6. Hennepin Healthcare’s Integrated Training Program

Hennepin Healthcare launched a tailored training program integrated into clinicians’ work hours, offering hour-long sessions for providers and 15-minute sessions for nurses. This case study evaluates the program’s effectiveness in minimizing workflow disruption.

7. Cleveland Clinic Foundation’s Virtual Scribe Implementation

To combat provider burnout and turnover, Cleveland Clinic Foundation partnered with IKS Health to implement virtual scribes alongside in-person scribes and Dragon Medical One. This case study highlights how this implementation reduced the documentation burden and improved provider well-being.
